First aid relief is often needed straight away after a specific event. The most commun are natural disasters and wars. Some african countrys have never been lucky, they always ended up with dictators which would exploit the population and the country’s natural ressources such as gold, diamonds, petrol etc. Then often rebel groups would rise to confront this injustice, but would often create a civial war, kill and steal. If they do eventually manage to overthrow the dictator or president, the leader is often replaced by someone just as bad. And the same process starts all over again. This is due to a lack of education and a bad governement, as well as simple geed and need of power. Natural disasters are the other reason some populations suddenly need help. Because we cannot forcast such events often many people die. One of the most terrible and fairly recent disaster was the tsunami in Indonesia. It destroyed entire coasts city’s and killed hundred of thousands. Another big and terrible event was the hurricane in Haiti. It destroyed nearly everything. The goverement before the event was already corrupt and the life style was bad. Therefore it was unable to react and help the population after the disaster and a whole country was left in chaos, with no system.
These events often happen in the same area’s, because they are prone to civil wars due to there bad governement system or are located in a an area with frequent earthquakes. Although we cannot prevent such events, we can get ready to face them and react quickly, however most of the countries hit by these natural disasters are poor, and cannot invest money. Therefore ONG’s and other governements need to be willing and ready to help as soon as possible, in order to save as many lives as possible.
