Partner Profiles

While Partners for Development works with too many amazing organizations to detail all of their great work, we would like to take a moment to highlight a few of our outstanding partner organizations.

Fantsuam Foundation

One of our major partners in Nigeria, the Fantsuam Foundation is located in BayanLoco, a peri-urban slum of Kafanchan, Kaduna State, but their activities and vision extend beyond Kafanchan toward the whole of Southern Kaduna. Fantsuam Foundation was founded in 1996 by a group of Nigerian professionals who recognized the need for empowering their rural neighbours and community members, particularly women, to find means of employment and income and meet their own development needs.

There are a number of development challenges faced by residents of Southern Kaduna, the priority being the reduction of poverty. The lack of jobs and income infrastructure, including safe housing, has also contributed to the poor health sector, and many residents do not have access to affordable and good health care facilities or services. The rural urban migration has led to the brain drain of many professionals to the urban areas to seek employment. The Fantsuam Foundation has set three priorities for their work: building sustainable livelihoods, building health services and fighting HIV/AIDS.

Faida MaLi

Faida MaLi (Market Link Company Limited) is  a non-profit company with a social mission to empower women and men in rural Tanzania to access markets through building community based organizations and creating market linkages. The company was established after individuals realized that small scale farmers were unable to take advantage of increasing entrepreneurial opportunities. Faida MaLi aims to play a valuable facilitating role in linking farmers to agricultural companies and other markets to build quality connections.

The core of Faida MaLi activities include identifying and promoting business opportunities in rural areas and supporting farmers in transforming their ability to increase income and create employment. Faida MaLi particularly strengthens farmers' organizational and business management capacity, negotiating skills, decision making abilities, and agronomic skills in order to produce high quality and increased quanities.

Pamoja, Inc.

A major partner to PfD, Pamoja, Inc. is a registered non-profit organization based out of Vermont. Pamoja provides space for professionals from private and non profit sectors who promote original approaches to challenges facing communities.

Pamoja provides the necessary institutional base and support for innovative leaders who work towards creative solutions for challenges that face communities, locally and globally. Pamoja's community-focused programs work with physical communities of people living or working together, community-based organizations, educational communities like universities, and cohorts of collaborating social service agencies in civil society.
